*Rules for Trace competitions on Saturday (after closing of Rendezvous):

Long Distance Tomahawk throw: All competitors will start AT LEAST 10 feet behind the line in round one. In each round, all competitors will get two optional practice throws (that do not count) and three tries to stick the hawk. If one of the three tries does not stick, the competitor is out of that round. For the next round, the minimum distance is moved back five more feet and all remaining competitors are allowed their five throws (first two are optional and do not count). The event is continued in this fashion until there is only one competitor left. If all competitors are unable to stick the hawk at a certain distance, then the competition will continue in a "sudden death" playoff, in which the minimum distance is not moved back, but only one throw per round is allowed. (Prizes awarded for young bucks AND for old timers.)

Evening Desert Competition: All persons competing are going to have to cook authentic pre-1800 according to the following rules: (a) NO ADDED SUGAR OF ANY KIND. This means no corn syrup, no brown sugar, no white sugar, no cane sugar, no molasses or anything else from sugar cane or sugar beets. You can't use canned fruit with added sugar in it. Sugar cane and sugar beets are natural (sort of), but the processed products produced from those (in any form) were NOT available on the early frontier. All of the sweetness in your desert must come from real fruit and/or some sort of natural sweetener such as honey. (b) NO REFINED (white) FLOUR, RICE OR OTHER GRAINS. You can use whole grain flour or corn flour, but not the refined stuff. The refined stuff didn't become common until after about 1860. Now we realize that this will be hard to do, but the desert you will make will actually be somewhat healthy. You'll just have to put up with it if you want to win the big prize. (Prizes awarded for young bucks AND for old timers.)

If you are under the age of 14, you need to wait a bit before completing a MAPS project. (Patience is a fruit of the Spirit of God, you know.)

6. The Insurance List Report along with the insurance fee should be sent to the MAPS office. The names of all individuals that are obtaining the insurance should be listed on this form. This form can be found HERE.

7. If you have any minors (people less than 18 years old) that qualify for taking a MAPS trip that are accompanying the team, the MAPS office needs the Parental Consent, Certification, and Medical Authorization form returned. This form can be found HERE. For information about which minors qualify for the MAPS trip, go HERE. (Note, nobody under the age of 14 will be allowed in any of the MAPS work areas.)

8. The Expense Report should be filled out as soon as the team returns from the trip. This form can be found HERE.
