Events are for all members: with or without period outfits or shelters! Come on out to events, even if you don't have frontier style equipment. At all FCF events, we have nice places for modern shelters. You can come out and have fun and learn the things you need to know to make or buy your own outfit and shelter. You can try everything from shooting black powder to throwing knives and hawks to eating strange food. So come on out! Don't forget your Background Check, Medical Release and Permission form for all events!

At Old Hickory FCF events we give out an "EVENT BEAD" that is unique for each event. The beads are glass, made the same way they were made back in the old days and are similar or identical to the ones worn by the frontiersmen. If you have a particular event bead, it indicates that you attended that event. In North Carolina, we are allowed to wear the FCF event beads on our class B uniform.

FOR BEAD WEARING RULES GO HERE

The "fine print" regarding "EVENT BEADS" : If you "visit" a PowWow outside of your denomination and stay in the FCF village, you also get a unique bead. The bead for visiting PowWows changes every year, but remains the same during the year no matter how many PowWows you visit. You will get one additional bead for every PowWow you visit. You do NOT get a bead for staying in the FCF village during a PowWow of your own denomination, since that would penalize the men and boys who stay with their outpost. You will also get a bead if you attend Family Days. Finally, if you are a member of the Old Hickory FCF Chapter and attend a National or Regional FCF event (one per year, called a Rendezvous), you also get a unique bead for that event. What this means is that you can earn quite a few unique beads per year in FCF! You can wear your FCF beads on your Royal Ranger uniform! For the rules about that, go HERE . These are glass beads, which means that you must be careful with them because they can break and in some cases they cannot be replaced.
